The Tapa, the Puanga, or the Frangipani
Another oldie but a goodie from Cushla. Her original print from the 80’s was the top colour- the ornate flower bit. In the 80’s Cushla was a teacher at Auckland Girls Grammar School in Auckland and worked with a lot of Maori and Polynesion Queer youth. She, and subsequently us, got the go ahead to use this beautiful artwork that is synonymous with the Pacific. We’ve added the background colour bit which is a handcut stencil so changes with each print run.
